About Crystal Biography

This shapely, crystal-eyed brunette is a force to be reckoned with! Clearly different from the rest, the actress/fitness guru doesn't rely on her looks alone to create some of the most insightful characters she portrays to date.

Born in Odessa, Texas, she was immediately transferred to Venezuela, South America and resided in Maracaibo during her 'formative' years in which she spoke Spanish as well. Left alone to her own devices, since she is an only child, Crystal began that inner- creative journey of dance and most importantly, Make Believe. At an early age she excelled in reading, ballet, tap, jazz and teaching neighborhood kids how to make their own productions while selling tickets to everyone on the block. She also traded hats between choreographer, director, producer and performer and continued to polish her skills throughout numerous recitals and plays. Her father, oil business, once again moved the family to Houston, Texas and the acting seed was planted during her hey days when she possessed the "Midas touch."

In l976 Crystal garnered her first principal role on a National Fanta/Coca-Cola commercial at her first audition. A SAG card also arrived. A series of TV commercials, print-work and theater roles soon ensued after landing the part of Ngana in South Pacific at age eight. She starred with Debbie Reynolds and Howard Hartman in the Music Hall. Becoming ever so disgruntled with the laborious homework assignments and rotating tutors which seemed to be mounting (yes, she had ADD) from missing days of school for acting, she decided she had had her "fill" for the present and plunged head first, as she is infamous for, into competitive sports where she also became an accomplished tennis player, diver and swimmer. She continued to compete and pursue another path until her senior year in college.

Coincidence or fate? After changing her major six times, placing out of college a year in advance and graduating Magnum Cum Laude without a degree, she decided to seek therapy. On the suggestion of her roommate, Michelle Kim, she attended Mona Lee Fultz's acting class and realized the psychological/therapeutic benefits of acting which had been the missing link she had been frantically searching for all these years. Receiving the "Outstanding Journalism Student Award" did not deter her from following her voice. Neither did her weekly AAP credits on Hollywood Insider nor her extensive resume in broadcast journalism/Bachelors of Journalism degree from UT-Austin.

Naive, free-spirited, un-prepared "Pistol", her nickname, was determined to conquer LA without "any help from her friends" since she was crowned "homecoming queen" and "head cheerleader." Much to her chagrin, she humbly admitted she needed to make-up for her sabbatical from acting, which is when most of her contemporaries began their odyssey.

Returning to her roots, Crystal has appeared in numerous commercials (whose counting?), industrials, independent films (UPM, AP, Casting), television shows, and live theater (most recently Esthers Follies). Currently she can be seen in "The Duo" (Blockbuster and Tower Records), "Death for Sale", "In the Moment" and "No Pain No Gain".

She also stars in the Gunn auto commercials, is on several Busch Beer Billboards, as well as having a full-page ad as a model for the San Antonio Bureau of Tourism currently on the shelves in "Texas Monthly", "Martha Stewart", "Coastal Living", "Travel & Leisure", to name a few.

In her spare time she enjoys teaching, training and having a good time.
